Winmark Wines has added a new chardonnay style to its growing portfolio of quality wines coming from the rich soils of the Broke Fordwich region. With a long viticultural history dating back to 1972, the former Pooles Rock property in the Hunter Valley is enjoying a revival like no other. Under the direction of its owner Karin Adcock, along with a skilled team of winemaking and viticultural experts, the vineyard is yet again producing premium quality wine. Winemaker and consultant John Belsham continues to oversee the wine making lending his 35 years of chardonnay expertise to Winmark Wines ensuring the road from the vines to the glass is optimised. The first release from the 2019 vintage is the stylish Rusty’s Run Chardonnay. This wine was named after Rusty the estate’s favourite Kelpie who loves playing in the vines! The 2019 Winmark Rusty’s Run Chardonnay is a true example of classic Hunter Valley fruit. The season was ideal for chardonnay being typically warm with low levels of rain aiding a traditional ripening period.
The fruit was harvested at night and after going through initial oak fermentation it was matured in stainless steel tanks until its release in October 2022. The expresses peach and citrus notes. The subtle oak handling emphasises elegance and a crisp dry finish It is drinking beautifully now and can be cellared for up to 5 years.
